The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror

One of my favorite Halloween traditions, usially starting in late September, is to watch all The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror no particular order.

I remember watching the very first episode in 1990 and hoping that the specials continue every year...which to my delight they did. Every year around Halloween I'd check my TV Guide to see when the show would air, circle the time with a red pen, then sit and wait. Right before the episode would air I'd have to do some prepping. Popcorn, cold pop, lights out, comfy couch...check, check, and double check. It was time.

The first thing that I would love to see were all the "scary names" they would attach to the cast names, followed by a creepy rendition of the couch gag. Usually the who introduction was completely different to follow a scary theme. Sometimes a venture through the graveyard, a voyage to outer space, or Marge warning the crowd of the upcoming horrors. The fourth wall was broken many times during these episodes, which, to a young man (and adult) made me feel as if I was a part of the show.

With 30 Treehouse episodes under their belt, and number 31 set to air November 1, everyone has their favorite episodes. Mine comes in the form of the first Treehouse episode (Ocober 25, 1990) not only because it's the one that started it all, but because the Simpsons do their own rendition of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven. Also, the episode takes place in a treehouse with Homer eavesdropping on Bart and Lisa telling scary tales.

With 30 episodes to choose from (31 depending on when your reading this) what is your favorite episode of fondest Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode?
