So, what holiday movies are you watching?
Me? I'm watching:
Silent Night Deadly Night (1984)
Santa Claus vs. the Devil (1959)
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964)
A Christmas Story (1983)
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (1989)
Christmas Evil (1980)
I’m good with the God portion of Christmas but I’m not that big on the holiday in general. My favorite Christmas viewing is old-school; the original “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and the Rankin Bass “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” That’s about it for me, Joe. Oh … and “Pee-wee’s Christmas Special” of all strange things.
RUDOLPH: The original 1964 stop-motion figures of Santa and Rudolph recently sold at auction for $368K. A true timeless holiday treasure. I have the entire action figure set by Playing Mantis and they are awesome. I use to set them up as my Christmas decorations. Some of these even bring a hefty price on eBay these days.
THE GRINCH: Love the original book by Dr. Seuss and the original TV special by Chuck Jones with the Grinch voiced by Boris Karloff. And that’s it. No Jim Carey for me thank you very much.
PEE-WEE’S CHRISTMAS SPECIAL: A time time travel back to the 80s with guests like Oprah, Cher, Grace Jones, KD Lang, Frankie and Annette, Dinah Shore, Little Richard, The Del Rubio Triplets, Little Richard, Charo, etc. …

I'm pagan, so the holiday has a totaly different meaning for me. Mostly I enjoy the nostalgic aspect of the season...remembering the simpler days of my youth. I definitely enjoy those classic cartoons and stop motion shows...my favorite being Frosty the Snowman (1969). I'm also partial to The Grinch, mainly because of Karloff. And who could forget the classic Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)?!
Interesting side note, Joe: Paul Coker Jr. designed the characters for the Rankin Bass' "Frosty the Snowman" animated Christmas special back in the day. He also illustrated for Mad Magazine for quite awhile. I worked side by side with his wife Rosemary for many years before they retired and moved to New Mexico. They send the best Christmas cards ... always a Paul Coker Jr. original caricature of him and Rosie (she's very tall and he's very short) with some Christmas / political satire theme. Their cards are always a holiday favorite of mine. -- TRM
I like the Grinch with that great voice of Mr. Karloff.
From me to all of you ...
What about A Charlie Brown Christmas? I've seen this every year since its first broadcast. Now I've dated myself.
TRANSLATION: I agree, Dr. Sab. That's a classic. HAPPY HOLIDAY! -- TRM
The Grinch and Charlie Brown Christmas are two of my favorites as well.
